French filmmaker, artist and art historian (ENSBA/Paris, HFF/Munich, University of Paris Sorbonne), Claire Angelini’s work explores through installation, film, photography and drawing, the political relationship between art and history under the categories of ruin, reminiscence and the survival of the images.

Archaeologist of the present, her artistic research often results of the jonction of an historical narration focused on the problematic of territory (ground/architecture/ archive) via the questionning of the traces, and its contemporary actualization. Attached to the problematic of the ephemeral monument related to public space, she founded the french-german collective - Laboratorium Geschichte- in 2001, where she produced in a context of artistical pedagogy collaborative projects in public space, installations and artist books between 2001 and 2005.

Her second long documentary film, War is looming, a memorial and topographic journey within the ruins of the camp of Rivesaltes was rewarded at Rendez-vous de l’histoire de Blois in 2011.

Various conferences, seminars and masterclasses in France and abroad such as Forumdoc of Belo Horizonte, Brasil, School of Fine Arts Limoges, University of Nanterre and Mémorial of Shoah, Paris, Jean Vigo Institute, Perpignan, Museum of the Quai Branly, Paris, INHA, Paris, University of Gent, Belgium.

In 2013 she published a book on Drancy, Drancy la muette, with Yannick Haenel by Photosyntheses editions.

She is represented by gallery Christian Pixis in Munich.
